Sleeptracker

Sleeptracker Sleep monitor

The Sleeptracker project was all about making a medical grade device comfortable and approachable for the consumer market. We focused on colors; bright,  friendly and calming, paired with the soft undulating pattern of a bed sheet. We wanted Sleeptracker to feel comforting and fun, to incite curiosity without getting in the way of your normal sleep routine.

Sleeptracker was a particularly engaging project as I handled every visual aspect of the product. I took the reins as UX designer and artist for the app, 3D modeling for the hardware as well as space efficient packaging concepts for our partners. I had a hand in every aspect of this project and it was immensely rewarding.

I prototyped a version of the app that changed dynamically depending on the time of day you launched it. Allowing the colors and backgrounds to mimic the time of day to ease you into a restful evening, or start the day right.

Working with our own electrical engineering team and our manufacturing partners in China I was able to smoothly prototype the physical device. I was able to get 3D models of our production PCB and limitations, tolerances and material options from our manufacturers and work seamlessly with both teams to design an enclosure that matched everyone’s needs without unnecessary iterations.

From the beginning the Sleeptracker Companion app was designed from the ground up with clean lines and pleasant colors to be comforting and un-imposing, while maintaining the medical cleanliness to match it’s capabilities as a sleep monitoring device.
